Click Here for a map of Cuckold Creek with preferred course.

The Marina at Swan Point is located in the south shore of Cuckold Creek at 38 degrees 19.55 N and 76 degrees 55’ W.

Approaching Cuckold Creek from the lower Potomac, Cuckold Creek daymarker #1 is three miles north of Can “27” or about 6 miles upriver from Cobb Island and the Wicomico River on the Maryland shore.

Approaching from the upper Potomac, after passing through the 301 Bay Bridge and continuing south for two miles pass the 29 ft. #30 fixed marker. Steer ESE for 2 ½ miles to Cuckold Creek daymarker #1.

After passing daymarker #3 and entering the creek take a course of 125 degrees for about ¼ mile passing an oyster shoal on your left. You will see the Swan Point Marina pier ahead, to the right of a small island. A shoal extends out from the land just before the marina nearly crossing the creek, necessitating a left turn until you near the north shore and can take a course paralleling the shore past the white boathouse. When the Swan Point Marina is on your starboard beam (just before you reach a creek on your left) turn right and head directly for the marina. Tie up at the outer end of the pier.

During weekdays the Navy facility from Dahlgren, VA usually stations Range Boats south of the 301 Bay Bridge and north of the Swan Point Bar. Contact them on VHF channel 16 for instructions on passing through the Dahlgren range Area. Expect to be asked to stay close to the Maryland shore.

CB Radio Monitoring

Several members and others on the Potomac use CB Channel 5 for general chatter. The US 301 bridge toll office monitors CB channel 3 for highway purposes, and has been helpful to boaters in relaying calls for assistance.

Telephone

A call to 911 can get the Cobb Island Rescue Squad, (well equipped with a boat), Fire Department, Sheriff, marine Police or the State Police.
